Summary

This book has a very good Exposition. It sets the story up very well. The Inciting Incident is a very shocking one is this story. It is defiantly the moment when Katniss’ sister’s name, Prim, is called at the Reaping. Katniss then volunteers to take her sisters place, and the action only goes up-hill from there. She is shipped off to the Hunger Games along with her partner, Peeta. Upon arrival, the ‘tributes’ are treated like gold before the games begin. Once in the arena, there is no rules, it’s just be or be killed. The last person alive is the winner. Katniss undergoes many emotional episodes while in the arena and also teams up with a girl named Rue. The climax is when there are only two people left, Katniss and Peeta, who have fallen for each other. Since there can only be one winner, they both threaten to eat poisonous berries. The rules are instantly changed and the two are both declared winner.
